Several years ago, as in fourteen, Danny and I were driving down 12th Ave when he saw it; a 1977 Ford Bronco. I wasn’t quite as taken with it as he was but I knew he had always wanted one and so I encouraged him to buy it if he wanted it. His plan was to restore it and fourteen years later, he finally has his prized possession. During that fourteen years there were so many times he thought about just selling it at the stage that it was in. As with most restorations it seemed as if at every turn he needed to purchase another part or something he wasn’t expecting to replace had to be replaced. His original intention was to restore it with son Daniel and they did do a few things then, as the time wore on and expenses and expertise became limited, he decided to have it restored by Velocity Restoration. I’m so glad he didn’t sell it before seeing it finished. We will drive it on dates downtown or sometimes just tooling around town. It’s just a fun and nostalgic ride. We actually have to roll our windows down with a window crank and push a button to lock our doors. Our grand-kids didn’t know what those were.
Once he got it completed and picked it up from the restoration company he immediately started making noise about selling it. When I asked why he would ever sell it, he said he felt guilty for having such an expensive “toy”…. Seriously, after fourteen years of saving and slowly having his dream restored, he considered selling it. What? Y’all this is the man who works from sun up to sun down every single day providing above and beyond for our entire family to have ALL THE THINGS. If anyone ever deserved an unnecessary “toy” it’s this guy. Yes, we are keeping the Bronco!
